The journey of a little red book, so that it will be filled with memories and moments and stories, yet untold, of a monument, holding on to the summit of a hill in the ancient kingdom of Aileach, now known as Inishowen.
The little red notebook was given to me by a friend, rather thick and far too pretty to be used only for my not always readable nor intelligible scribbles. I remembered the account of a nineteenth century guestbook, found some years ago in England, in which the visitors had not only left their thoughts but descriptions, drawings, poems and paintings, all associated with their time spent in this one place and their experiences, appreciation and happiness felt.
If in principle a similar book could be created, a collection of personal impressions, as unique and manifold and vibrant as its contributors, then perhaps a true and overdue reflection will rise from the pages of this book, of the impact and importance of the Grianán of Aileach.
